The much-awaited Malabar River festival, South- India's first-ever river-based competition, is all set to make a big splash this year. The event is organized by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) and District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) with the technical support of the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA). The International Kayaking competition will be held at Thusharagiri in Kozhikode from August 12 to 14. The River Festival hosted at the Chalipuzha and Iruvazhinjipuzha rivers is a great booster to water sports and adventure tourism in Kerala.

3. Local transportation (Pick and drop at Calicut airport and railway station)

Slalom race

Registration fees - 1000 INR

  1. Intermediate category for kayakers who are comfortable paddling class 2/3.
  2. Professional category for kayakers who are comfortable paddling class 3-4 grade rapids and have a solid combat roll.
  3. Intermediate category is for less experienced paddlers and so those kayakers who are found to misrepresent their paddling skill level in order to compete in a category that makes it unfair to fellow competitors will be liable to be disqualified from the competition.

The events offer total prize money of Rs 9,45,000 up for grabs for expert Kayakers in India and around the globe in a truly world-class water sports adventure!

The memento and certificate are issued by Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS), and Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA)

The rules are

  1. Only the top 32 from slalom qualify for the boaterX
  2. Top 16 from slalom & boaterX qualify for downriver TT
  3. Top 5 from all three events - slalom, boaterX, downriver are elligible for the overall prize
